Our client is a well-established (1888), well-recognized, publically traded, $2.7 billion international manufacturer of quality Electrical and Electronic products for a broad range of non-residential and residential construction, industrial and utility applications. Key business segments are Electrical Systems, Lighting and Power Systems. This division is focused on products for the Electrical Utility Industry. There is a tradition of product innovation, complementary acquisition and management succession through internal development.

JOB SUMMARY
You will be working on products for the Electrical Power Industry primarily Transmission and Distribution. The Product Development Engineers principal responsibility is to take design concepts and translate them into physical working prototypes leading to final designs for volume manufacturability. Youll also coordinate UL/CSA/IEEE product testing, troubleshoot design problems, provide failure analysis and generate product enhancements. Some work applicable to smart grid applications.

QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW
BSME plus 3 10 years of experience that includes recent hands-on design and development of products related to and/or for the Utility/Power transmission/distribution industry special interest in past related switch design experience. One must also have a general understanding of electrical power. Project Management experience required. Experience in structural design, FEA, and materials are desirable. Finally you should also possess a strong hand-on perspective, a technically oriented curiosity and a tinkering characteristic.
Ability to relocate in future for promotion is advantageous.
Normal Travel 10%. Could potentially be as much as 25% on occasion.

Small town southern life style within easy proximity (10 - 15 miles) to a metropolitan area of approx 1.2 million. Could live in either location and commute. Low COL.
